Do i need flex pipes
well my cats and flex pipe are done for, the cats are burned out and the flex pipe is broken on both sides, my question, can i just hack saw off the cats and flex pipe and just clamp or weld on new cats with an extended pipe to fill the gap the flex pipes leave, id really just like to either take it to a cheap shop and weld it or just clamp it up in my garage. anyone, or hell can i even skip cats altogether and get a test pipe and jsut clamp that on,
i odnt understand ezactly what your saying and im not even sure awht motor you have at the momnet but flex pipes provide a little gfive in the system so your not hurting the whole system when the motor moves aroung.... testpipes are great if you dont have to pass emissions but you sshould probably have flex onthere to give the system some give if you know what I mean
If you dont mind a CEL then just put in a couple straight pipes and weld bungs in for the 02 sensors. Id just get a couple cheap universal hfc's and put them in. Or have them put in, im not sure what the curves are like on a 12v exhaust system.
I got stainless magnaflow flex pipes for like $35 each. Like badluck was saying you want to have a little give from the engine moving.... just talk to your local custom exhaust place. I'm sure it wont cost you much.
