Default Do we need the clutch?

Alright guys, I was driving home late last night so there weren't many cars on the road so I figured I'd mess around a little try to work on my rev-matching and downshifts and what not. Then I was like you know all this working the clutch just gets my leg tired, I wonder if I really need it. Once you get past the sounds of the gears grinding and stuff it's really not all that bad. Your passengers might not like it, but I dunno, I just turned the radio up louder. I really think you should give it a try, eventually you'll end up shifting alot faster than when you use the clutch. If it feels like it's not gonna go into the gear just push harder, eventually the shifter will just slide right in! Now I'm just trying to find a way to start from a stop without using the clutch and then I'll be able to get rid of the clutch pedal completely! I think this would be an awesome mod because my old car was an automatic and now it just feels so cramped down in the footwell.

Actually, if you get really good at matching rev's, you can reduce the amount of clutch use. But it takes lots of practice and probably not a good thing to do on your daily driver...[:-]

Haha yea, my friend used to do it on his CRX, I could never it do it to my car though. I did grind the gears once and I almost cried. I don't think I could handle intentionally doing it as a "learning" experience. It would be pretty cool though.

General rule of thumb: "If something doesn't fit the 1st time, your not pushing hard enough"

That theory works with lots of things;

Shifting
Computers
Butt Sex

Lots of things....

Hey I just made it to first gear member! I did it on here, now if I could only get these damn gears to mash, yes mash, correctly from a standstill I could just get rid of that damn extra pedal.

JAM THAT **** IN THERE!

Get hack saw...

Cut out clutch pedal...

Yea, I found you need alot of RPM's and some serious pushing to make sure it doesn't stall and still get it into gear. But I love all my new footroom!

I let my friend drive my car once, but he isn't used to slipping the shifter into gear, instead he liked to force it in really fast and hard. He got it going up to about 4k in 1st, shifted to 2nd real fast, jamming the shifter down, then when he was ready for third, he slams it straight up, not up-right-up and crunches it back into first, dumps the clutch, and hits the rev limiter. I swapped places with him real quick and made a mental note that he can never drive my car.
