Hi I have an Audi a4 1.8t 2002 (uk) it has in it a CONCERTtape radio.
I want to change it to an after market CD player but I have heard some Audi’s come with a built in amp which most after market player wont be able to use ( so I guess resulting in less sound quality) is this true? and if so how can I tell if my car has one,
It does have a loud system compared with most cars I have had in the past and on the rear parcel shelf is one large speaker that I could only describe as a small sub woofer, with space for a second next to it .
Any ideas ..??

your car does have a 150watt factory amp, it should be located somewhere in the trunk, not exactly sure where. and yes, you wont be able to use your amp with an aftermarket CD player, so the stock speakers will sound like crap.
