yeh i think im just going to pop open the door panel and snip whatever wire runs to heating instrument, its definately not supposed to get that hot...i can just imagine explaining to my insurance co why my A4 is now a charred set of wheels, THANKS EVERYONE!!!

how does this feature work? i remember reading up on it a bit somewhere...does the key have to be in proximity or in the ignition or what?
