Got my engine straightened out and now I'm down to dealing with the door locks that are feaking out by themselves??

I have VAG software and itshowsAlarm triggered by Anti-Theft Sensoron all four doorsand I was wondering how to address this....I can hear a solinoid actuating and all the locks moving...all the time!....killing the battery while sitting during engine service.

One of your door latches are bad, or the central locking control module is bad. More likely a door latch.

Thanks auditech79,

I have my friends VW B5service manual....will this help and also can I use the VAG to ID the exact problem and clear it?

One other thing, my CLR...can it be replaced as it's partly burnt out and unable to read?

Finding a faulty latch with the VAG COM can be extremely hard if you don't know exactly what your looking at, so i would take it to the dealer or a very good mechanic if you know one.
As for the CLR, i assume you mean the cluster readout? When those start fading you have to change out the whole cluster.

Auditech79,
Yes I do know a good mechanic who together over the past 3 weeks we have done quite a bit of work to my A4 that I got recently, I want to learn everything I can about this car to care for it myself.

Just completed:
Timming belt kit.
Water Pump
All belts
Coil packs
ICM
Cam sensor
Throttle Control valve
Scanned, Cleared, & Reprogramed Throttle with VAG and service manual.

With this under my belt I'm feeling pretty positive we can address the locks and I very much appecitate your input!

Well then if you want to try what you have to do is interogate the central electronics module and check the data blocks for each door while opening and closing the latch. If one of the latches only shows open or just closed you found that bad latch.

Very Cool;
I'll do some reading up on how to interogate the CEM and the data blocks in the service manual.

Thank you for pointing me in the right direction.

Auditech79,
Tested the doors with the VAG data blocks and the value did change when the doors were opened and closed.

Nothing on the trunk and hood....

I cleared the codes and they did not come back but now the locks are defunct to some extent?

How much money did you buy this car for sounds like you got one hell of shitty deal or you really wanted to learn how to fix an entire car.
