Is Doing a downpipe replacing the cat converter???

Cause i think my cat is bellow trashhold and need replacement i think,

so should i do the downpiping (im getting an exhaust in december), and will the check engine light go of when you install the downpipe???

 

A test pipe replaces your cat if you have a 1.8t? The down pipe comes after the cat.

 

it goes turbo, testpipe/cat, downpipe and then the rest of the exhaust. the downpipe is the one with the flex joint in it.
