its a real easy fix to do yourself, unless im thinking of the wrong thing. are we talking about the bearing that comes out of the knuckle almost by hand, with the splines in it. or somthing that is pressed into the knuckle? it its the one not pressed in, it should only take about 30 minutes of labor each side, if your really tight on cash.

what213%?^! im thinking of video taping me doing this because you dont beleive me. minus the time jaking the front end up. you undo the pinch bolt ont he uper control arms, and the pinch bolt on the tie rod end. then undo the 27mm bolt on the center, press out the half shaft, and from there you can take the whole thing out.

edit: just read that diy, thats what i asked when i first posted, if it was the bearing the needed to be pressed out, that takes a little more time, but getting too that part of the job really only takes about30mintues.

go for it and all the actions are timed even jacking the car up so caution when you give times to do a job

Okay, I just did mine about two weeks ago. It's not a 30 minute job by any means. And depending on your location and exposure to foul weather, you may want to consider spraying PB Blaster on the pinch bolt today, even if you're going to wait a couple months before you get it done. Going rate in my area was $150 per side. I was able to remove the knuckles and take them to a machine shop and had the bearings pressed in for $40 (for both). If I had worked straight through it still would have taken me about 5-7 hours because of that PITA pinch bolt.

Some good information to know, if your pinch bolt is rusted and you are not replacing the control arms you can easily remove the upper strut mount and unbolt the control arm from there. No need to remove them from the knuckle. I eventually did this and removed the pinch bolt once I had the knuckle on the bench- made it much easier to deal with.

And I recommend when you buy the bearings get a "kit" that includes the wheel hub bolt. These bolts are made to be replaced each time they are removed because they are streched when installed properly.

If there is anything else you'ld like to know PM me while it's still fresh in my mind. (and at my age that might not be very much longer)

luckily i have already changed my control arms not long ago so i kno my pinch bolts aren't too hard to take out lol. and ya im cheap but i always do the job right. when i changed my control arms i changed all the bolts and nuts, grease evrything and even put grease around the slits the that pinch bolts are exposed. i've also replaced a spindle so i kno wut u have to do to change the front end but haven't seen the rear end yet. my manual says the rear is basically like the front though.
