No it does not make a PFFSSSt when it releases pressure.

 

My moms golf makes a PFFSSST noise wahen I let off the gas... haha, I am pretty sure it just has a diverter valve though... it isnt super loud, but I hear it nearly everytime I let off the gas, if I was at all into the throttle, and I dont have any music on. I should get under there and check it out... lol, wouldnt be too suprised to find some bit shiney BOV somewheres -- from the previous owner.

BUT, I think it is just because the DV is located elsewhere in the golfs/jetta's/tt's... and its easier to hear it.
