Default DV, intake, and all of the above

ok... first off please don't flame. But I've been reading alot about a DV, what is a DV? What specific parts and everything do I need to run one or whatever... ok i know i sound oddly retarted... but please

I am looking to get an intake, and heat shield for my car. What would be some good recomendations? I want to do this all the right way, but also the cheaper the better, but I wouldn't skip or part with anything that won't be good with my car if you know what I mean... estimated costs?

Also I was trying to get into my air box last night, ended up unscrewing quite a few things, unlocked a few hoses but still couldn't quite get into it all the way, i was able to pull out my air filter and clean it a bit, but I couldn't actually get the top off, I just slid it to the side. Could someone please explain and help?

A DV is a Diverter Valve. It is like a BOV except that the instead of Blowing off the extra air to the atmospher, it is Diverted back into the intake system. If you are getting one you just need the DV.

Have you checked the DIY section, because there is some good tutorials for what you are doing. The pics should help a lot also.

DV - $35-$150 (stock TT or Forge 007 or something of that sort)
Heat sheild $25-$90 (diy or buy from a guy on az)
Box Mod - $5 (weather stip)

^I looked into some of the DIY threads and they sound all good and everything but alot of the pics are old and outdated so they don't show up. The simply say move away the wires or something like that...
yeah i was thinking about buying a heat sheild not making one...figured I shouldn't skimp on this part
as for the box mod... and i'm kind of impartial to either make the mod, or get an intake

so is there an original dv stock? where exactally is the dv? and how hard is it if I were to replace it myself?

yes, our cars have a stock DV. It is located on the underside of the car off of on of the hoses (I can't remember which one but i believe it's the one right before the air hose goes into your stock intercooler. And it is fairly simple to replace. Maybe 20 30 min.

ya you have stock DV. if you stand directly in front of your car look straight down and a little to the left. it close to the fan. looks like this
you should see a blue vac line connected to the upper intake manifold (mines blue at least) its really thin. just follow that down and it'll end up at the dv

if you want aREALLY good heat shield- http://www.audizine.com/forum/showthread.php?t=89270

just so you know a new intake and dv wont increase performance, just make the pssshhh sound louder

The DV is labeled as a bypass valve and takes about 15-30 min. to replace. All you do is lift the car and cut the factory hose clamps, pluck the old 1 off and replace with a new 1. The DV is explained in a post above, and yes you have 1. People replace it after getting chipped since the stock 1 is not strong enough for the extra boost.

I think this makes much more sense now... sorry to come on here without know anything about it. I think that I'm pointed in the correct direction thanks to everyone! thank you!

I understand that it doesn't increase horsepower, but I just want that noise ;o)

Thinking that I am looking into getting a cone air intake, heat sheild from that dude, and a dv... would spending 350 for everything sound about correct?
