I was wondering what my 99 A4 1.8TQM would feel/drive like if it needed a new DV valve? Can anybody describe?

Slower.

 

Surging, power loss, less boost, hesitation, jerkiness, "honking" noises.

 

I had the honking sounds and ordered a new DV (710N) from ECS. When I received the package and there was this little tiny box I was like WTF is this. I opened the box and out came this tiny little valve. I had no idea the DV was so tiny (it made me laugh for some reason). From all the pictures you see on the internet it looks huge. Anyway I installed the Valve and the honking stopped, and also all the power loss problems.

 

What if there are no honking sounds, but ticking sounds instead? Is that likely to be vacuum lines, DV, or something else if I have loss of power and the turbo doesn't feel like it's kicking in?
