E brake sticks in the cold
Ok so this is starting to annoy me now, here goes. Whenever it is cold out, around 20 degrees F, i noticed that if my ebrake was engaged prior to me starting the car when I disengage the ebrake it just drops immediately down and the brakes stick to my rotors. If the ebrake is not engaged and I try to engage it, the ebrake lever is very difficult to lift. No clue what's wrong, is this fluid related? I recently changed all of my brakes, but as I said this is only in very cold weather.
i have the same problem with my 02 A4. I tried to lube the linkage on the calipers but no such luck...I'm guessing its condensation build up in the cable itself?? Anyone have a fix for this? Please help us. Notahondaowner is right it's really annoying!!
The cable usually sticks where its bolted to the body, if you loosen the holder to the body and spray the living hell out of the cable adjuster with some WD-40 or something it may keep it from freezing up on you. The spring thats on the caliper is WAY to strong to get stuck there.
yeah from what ive heard during winters you never leave a manual with the e-brake always leave it in gear, i had the same issues when i first bought my car, the brakes would stick until the rear rotors heated up and then hear a pop.
Appreciate the feed back, i have been leaving it off since I noticed the problem, was just double checking that this isnt indicative of further problems down the road. I see it is not, so screw it no ebrake in winter.
