Default Brake Light in cold weather

I get the brake light lighting up in colder weather, what's up with that?

My brake light (flashing red) goes on and stays on when the temperature drops around the 25F mark.
I'm wondering if there's some kind of connection problem, wiring? condensation of some sort? the brakes are fine, newer, unless it's some kind of larger problem...wondering if anyone has some advice...

thats how mine started man, but then it just slowly started getting worse and worse...tuned out that my abs control module was just going bad. best bet is to hook up the vag-com and see wat codes are being spit out.

you can get your control module rebuilt for 99 from autoecu.com (depending on what car u have, i have a 2000 a6 2,7t and it was 99$) or from modulemaster.com as well. otherwise brand new modules are around 700$.

Pull the terminals and clean them up. I had all sorts of electrical issues during the last cold snap due to loose or dirty contacts. Use di-electric grease when you put them back together. I clean my pins with a nail file.

Your blake light indicator could be going. It is under the dash and touches the top of the brake pedal arm. When you push the brake it lets the button out and lights up the brake lights. When you let off the brake it gets compressed and breaks the connection to the tail lamps. It could also mess with your stability control as it sends false readings to the cpu. Part is around $30 and takes all of 10 mins to change. Good luck!

You may just need a little brake fluid. It may be that the brake fluid is contracting when cold, thus bringing the fluid volume down just low enough to turn on the sensor light, and when it warms it expands the volume of the brake fluid and turns the sensor light off.

Mine was acting like that ... brake fluid was fine ... after I got the code, I find out it was a bad abs wheel sensor.
