Default Early sign of clutch going out?

I only have this issue in the high boost range. My will RPM's shoot up w/o accelerationand then whenI ease back on the throttle the RPM's drop and I am back to normal acceleration and I have the "power to the wheels" feel again. It will do this in any gear, depending on how heavy my foot is. Low to moderate boostis OK, this only happens during high boost.I have donethe test... 1st gear about 20mi/hr shift up to 5th to feel for slip and itseems to grab fine, no significant REV/RPM's.Could this be an early sign of my clutch going out?The car is stock aside from Forge DV and N75 race valve.

a clutch going outwill usually depend onthe amount of miles on the clutch and your driving style. i would say that is sounds like it is going out.. the easyest test is to drive on the freeway in 5th gear at 4k rpm's and floor it and see if it sticks or not as that will put the most load on the clutch for you to see.

also, has this happend after any type of harsh launches or anything like that. glazing could be a slight possibility

From a stop, pull away in second gear on a level road.. If it slips
you need a new clutch.

the reason it slips wheny ou do that in fifth gear is because in 5th gear, it takes the most torque to move the car. you could put it in 3rd and go up a super steep hiull and it should do the same thing. but the bestis on flat ground, 5th gear, and not at 30. i do it at 50 ish, because there im at about 2.7k which is right when the torque band kicks. if ur RPM's jump, then ur loseing it.

ALSO an earlier indicator that i just learned beause my cluthc went is be like in third gear, mash it till urt at like 4.5k rpm then let off the gas quick. if there is a hard THUNK, then ur clutch is on its way out. thats the feel of the clutch grabbing again and jerking ur engine back down to speed, even if it is only like 20-50 RPM off. that will tell you before it slips in 5th gear, so ya. if its doing that, you lave MABY 10k miles left on the clutch.

After searching and reading other posts it sounds like it is time for a new clutch. It does exactly what you wrote... in 5th gear with hard throttle it slips and the RPM's shoot up. I'm looking into stage one clutches. If anyone knows of any good deals point me in the reight direction. Iwill eventually chip (APR or GIAC)I'm reading up on a SPEC stage one clutch right now. I welcome any other ideas, thanks

STAY AWAY FROM SPEC!!!!

go with a southbend stg 2 or 3.. will grip for years to come with ko3 or k04 power and will have a stock pedal feel to it

What's wrong with spec? Just wondering.

My favorite test is when taking off from a light shift to third from first to see if it slips.

if u live near davis, CA, i got a 2bennett cluthc from them for less than a stock replacement from audi. i absolutly LOVE the clutch (i pays 2090 for the clutch, install, nre bether hose, and tax) that included every wear clutch part, valves, bearings...
