Default ebay junk

So I was reading through old post about intakes because I think I am going to get acarbonio. Anyway whats with all these people talking about getting k&n and some cheap intake off of ebay or the same with intercoolers. Or even worse going to homedepot and crafting some junk up. It just seems like something that someone who drive a honda would do. I thought that becausewe wereaudi/vw owners wedidnt do that andit set us apart from everyone else. I guess I was wrong.

Store bought FMIC $1000.00
DIY FMIC $150
Preformance difference - not $850
intake - anyone on here that knows what they hell they are talking about says it gives no gains over stock and just causes heat soak.

You bring your car to the dealer to worked on don't you.

i would have no problem putting some piping together with a filter on it

i do have a problem paying 350 + for an upside down stock airbox made out of carbon fiber... that does the exact same thing

its an engine bay.. unless you have a full show car i dont think it matter wtf it looks like under there (although mine is always clean)

and im talking about quality pieces to put together an intake (not some pvc pipe and a filter off your rising mower held together with some duct tape)

VW...........lol

ok sorry couldn't resist

But seriously I don't understand any of your little [sm=rant.gif] . some of us don't have a grand to throw at a FMIC or a Carbanio. We do the best we can with what we have available. and most of the time thats not $$$

I do agree about the home depot crowd thought - I saw a forced air intake awhile back that they guy used ductwork to make a hose to get air from down by the front bumper - I thought it was funny

one last thing - your car would look so sweet with some 18's on her - your showin way to much rubber
