Default ecs timing belt kits, which to get?

theres alot of different kits on the ecs tuning site. not too car savvy. no idea what they mean about early vin and engine codes(can this info be found in
the cars manual?). the car is a 97 a4 1.8t quat. decided to change the belt since i forgot to ask the guy i bought the car from when he changed
the belt.

and another question, is it possible to get a vw dealer to replace the timing belts at a possibly cheaper labor price than say an audi dealer?

i would honestly find a Audi Authorized Shop and let them do it. it would be the Cheapest. Just an example. I called 3 Audi Dealships and 2 vw dealer ships to do my CV joint, cheapest price i got from the 5 was 1349.99 plus tax. I found a shop that was Audi Authorized and they did the same job for 650.00 And that was a year ago, with a 2 year warranty. Dealships are expensive. But I couldnt tell you what timing kit to go with.

Just go to www.PureMS.com for the TB kit - a lot less confusing and good parts - just did my TB.
They are an Audiforums sponsor as well.

The VIN is stamped on a plate under the windshield on the lower driver's side (looking at it from outside the car).
The Engine Code is stamped on the engine block, I think it is under the engine cover toward the front of the car.

A VW dealers is not going to be cheap either. The TB job is a money grabber for VAG and they milk it.
