ECU replaced.. what to do about chip?
I recently had to have my ecu replaced and I have a K04 and did have a GIAC chip on my old ECU but the new ECU is stock. Is it possible to take the chip out of the old one and put it into the new one? any suggestions?
Thanks
Thanks
The chip "should" be reprogramed so it works better with the K04. GIAC has specific K04 profiles that run better. You can run your old chip but it wont be as fine tuned.
I suggest you take it to a shop that deals with GIAC and give it to them and tell them you want a K04 profile.

Contact GIAC or the shop that did the original chip/flash and explain what happened. You'd probably have to pay a labor fee to install the chip or do the flash, but I would think you wouldn't have to buy the software again.
