Default ECU UPDATE TO 199.5, Possible?

Anybody know if it is possible to update the ECU of a 97 A4 1.8 to a later 1999.5 ECU. Since then you could just use a flashloader to change software. Also I remember seeing a company that gave you the ability to alter fuel and spark curves. Did some searching but have not found much.

99.5 needs a chip, not a flash

the way you would change the fuel and spark curves would be some lemmiwinks tweaking.. also not available till 2000

and the ecu # would need to match yours

most 99.5's are a 557p box

yea all thats right and why would you want to change to a 99.5 its not gunna do anything different than your 97, and its a different motor after that so it wouldnt work at all with the newer than 99.5 ecus

OK might be wrong about the 99.5 year. Want to update to a 2000 maybe, whatever year you can flashload the software instead of a chip change. Will have to find the company but I read not long ago a testamonial of a fellow that was using a flash loader to taylor his fuel and spark curve. Bottom line is I will be running a custom k24 turbo set up and don't want to ship my ECU back and fourth along with data logs to dial it in.

just get a chip man. you can have your ecu overnighted so you dont have to wait long! Also, you can get software to plug in where you can tune it yourself..... you dont have to keep sending in your ecu

no no no... 97-99.5 is DBC and 00+ is DBW. Will not work, forget the idea about an ecu swap. How much power are you trying to get with the k24?

ARollin,

What chip can I install and then program it without sending the ECU back and fourth?

Go stand alone if you want to fine tune. Or get a k04 chip or BT chip and cross your fingers.
