Default EGR VALVE

I finaly got my check engine light diagnosed on my 1997 a4 quattro v6 12v. My car was lagging when i accelerated. Anyway, the scan tool told me that the problem is the EGR valve. I cant seem to find anyone selling this part for my model. is this common?...Is the part expensive?....fixable?...any info is great!

Thanks,

You can clean them. They get fouled up with all kinds of gunk. Google "cleaning an EGR valve" and you'll find directions on how to do it. I've cleaned one but it was long long time ago.

If you do a search, I had a similar problem with my 96. The EGR is expensive. There is a really good write up in Audiworld.
