Engine choices in A4's, 2005 to 2008
As I consider the A4, I wonder about the alternative engines. I have driven the 4 cylinders, and for some reason, the dealers don't seem to keep the V6's.
What is the informed thinking on the part of this group regarding a comparison of the two engines; their virtues, performance and mileage?
Also, how many buy manual transmissions? In my life, at the age of 57, I have only owned two cars with automatic transmissions, to indicate that I like manuals. I do, however, think that it might seem more luxurious with an automatic. Are the manuals in these cars fitted with ratios that provide the possibility of smooth shifting? Is either engine better suited to manual trans use?
Discuss.

The 2.0T is a much better choice. It is very strong and is ready for way more power. You can make it equally as fast if not faster than a V6 with far less than the price difference. If you enjoy driving, you really should get a manual. Driving a turbo car you really need a manual to enjoy it and get the most out of it. If you prefer a auto, then you should consider the V6 more.

What if I did not modify, do you still feel the same way?
You shouldnt get any crap for a turboback exhaust or a chip (if you think so, get the stock program also and change it before you go it, they wont be able to tell). Those 2 and even a intake would give a nice gain and wont effect the reliability of the car. Even if you didnt ever intend to mod, but like the extra power of the V6, a chip in a 2.0T would still be as fast and get much better gas milage.
Asking me isnt fair, i couldnt not mod or drive anything w/o a turbo.
