engine oil questions

Default engine oil questions

i just bought a 2001 audi a4 1.8T and i was wandering when i should change the oil..is it every 3,000 like other cars or diff?

I use synthetic and change it every 5000 km... roughly 3500 miles. OEM filters are best too, I think.

If he changes the oil ever 3K mi. , mineral (dyno) oil shoul be good.

I think its "dino" and not "dyno" but thats besides the point.

You can go (i assume flaming to ensue) 10K+ will a GOOD synthetic oil. I use Amsoil 5W-30... switching to German Car Fomula soon....
But you MUST change your filter per requirements (3-5K) The filter is more important than the oil itself.

I heard it's bad to change from regular oil to synthetic. I just bought the car and I don't know what type of oil the previous owner used. Should I start using synthetic?

Where did you hear that from? It's fine to change to synthetic oil. Audi even now only uses synthetic oils in their engines.

mobil or amsoil synthetics are your best bet......but i use a kandn filter
