Can an engine speed sensor cause limping?

 

my speedometer stopped working and my miles stopped going up and then it stopped limping and was doing fine for a week or so so I kinda forgot about it and was just going to leave it being my car is ver problematic as it is. I went inside the store for a min came back out and it was misfiring like crazy so I changed the plugs and it helped a little. I'm not throwing any misfire codes just throttle pos sensor and throttle short to ground codes. Not sure how to fix those either. Taking the car to the shop in the mourning.

 

TP sensor is a likely candidate for your problem

testing the VSS which is on the transmission in case you dont already know that
