ENGINE STALLED OUT
Well, no real answer on why this may have happened.
But, it gets more interesting. My A4 is built to American specs. The local dealer (in Germany) can not read my on board computer. He ran a diagnostic, but apparently he/they do not have the right equipment to fully interpret the results.
They did see something in the "history log" but reset the computer without fully understanding what the computer logs were telling them. I was told if it happens again, call them immediately, they will download everything and send it to the US or Ingolstadt.
As of now the car is running beautifully. I wish I bought the A6 now.

Hmmmm. Yes it was an Audi dealer in Germany.
I am new to Audi, but my understanding, or at least they way they explained it to me was they download a history or log file off the computer. From that they receive a series of codes telling them when and possibly where there were issues. Is that correct?
The problem they were having was understanding the code. Not so much getting it, as deciphering it?
Does that make sense?

Well no it doesnt really make sense because there are a lot of options for deceiphering the fault codes
The scan tool has test plans built in to help with this and they could always call the tech line
But i really wouldnt know without seeing the codes

Did you buy your car from Auto Exchange? Thats a new car, and you shouldn't be experiencing these kinda problems with an 2005.5. German dealearships use the same diagnostic tool sets as American Dealerships. Specifications are different, but there's no difference in relation to reading and interpreting fault codes. In the future I would suggest you take your car to AutoExchange cars sales and have the sales rep deal with the dealership regarding your problems and warranty. I've found taking this avenue netted better results than dealing directly with the local German Dealership. Good Luck. BTW where are you in Barvaria??
Yes! Suite3.0A4, that is exactly where I bought it - up in Manheim. I am in Garmisch, so getting up there is an issue, but I can certainly call them and have them work through the Audi tangle. Excellent suggestion. The dealership in Garmisch is very helpful and courteous and all, I think some of this may be that my German is still at beginner level. It may be some miscommunication.
By the way, I was extremely happy with AutoExchange as well. They were also excellent.
I just signed up for ADAC, so if I crap out again and have a serious problem I won't be stranded. But, the car has been running beautifully. I love it, it is a 3.2L with all the trim. On the autobahn that engine just hums at 115mph. I get it up higher, but that is a nice comfortable speed on the A95 from Garmisch to Munchen. That run is sweet, very little construction and no limit unless it is raining or snowing.
