Default Engine swap

Does anyone know if an 2000 A4 1.8T engine + Trani would fit in a 96 A4 2.8. Both are standard. and both and quatro's.

not without more work that needed. Your better of selling the car and getting a 1.8t A4. There will be far more cost than just the engine and tranny, not to mention ecu.... etc and time spent.

Yes it will fit for sure. If you have a donor car then go for it. Just get the wiring and ECM from the 1.8t as well. The only thing that may be an issue is the length of the drive shaft, but you can always have it lengthed or shortened for not that much.

+1 to what CincyTT said.

It is far way too complicated and expensive.
