Engine Swap Costs - Real #'s and Results.

Ithink there was a miscommunication, which is bound to happen based on interpretation. LOL.all i was trying to say is that a motor swap isn't a great idea. I.E. whatI had planned on doing. LOL.

never said you were bashing anyone, i was just trying to give my input. yes, there is NO reason to swap a 1.8T into a 2.8. it wouldn't cost 15g's, something more like half that, but even at that price, you could BT your 2.8 and get the same results or sell your 2.8 and buy a 1.8T. the only thing i would consider swapping into a 2.8 is a vr6.

This thread was never meant to bash anyone. The BT kit I priced was retail, and they listed a dyno to show it's performance. Like I said, there are dozens of options, and I wasn't going to price them all. I pulled half a dozen or so BT kits. not build it yourself but KITS. retial was listed at $4k or more on every one.
Yes, you can build more power for less, but even so, it doesn't justify the cost of swapping to a 1.8t. the break even point is over 15gs... you gonne throw 15gs into a 2.8 to convert and mod it? or would you just buy a 1.8t and start modding? that's the point.
I didn't dog 034, their build skills are awesome. My engine swap options didn't include any vr6. At all. reason being is just what you said, it's not an easy swap, and requires standalone to get the results tha 034 is getting, hence why they's had a hand in almost all of them. they build and sell the parts, and they've got the tune down.
again,I NEVER did or would dog 034.

from the looks of the numbers, if you want to go big... like 400+WHP, it's actually a better looking option (on paper) than an s4.
for the ~250 WHP range, the 1.8t is king
for the "easy" ~300 whp range the s4 is king
for the tuner swap 400+ HP machine from hell the 034 vr6-t swap is king
if not swapping for a fully built vr6-t, don't waste time on the swap.
all of this is based on **estimates** of HP / Dollar.

All it cost was time and a little cash. Hopefully this helps people out with their engine swap and build ideas. Just like anything, planning and research are key...

for the "easy" ~300 whp range the s4 is king not really, the 1.8t will be cheaper to get 300 whp. not to mention the s4 is much more expensive to maintain
for the tuner swap 400+ HP machine from hell the 034 vr6-t swap is king 475whp actually. and thats only on a 12v vr6
if not swapping for a fully built vr6-t, don't waste time on the swap.

There's the disconnect... I'm including the cost of the car. that's why our numbers seem so far apart Chaos. I'm not going on mods alone.
Show me the 600WHPS4 for $10g's and I swear I'll pull a penguin outta my.... *EDIT* pocket. LOL

near 600 hp for ~10k ain't shabby

anyway I'm done. there's crossed wires somewhere. I was trying to help and show my research, prevent someone from doing whatI did.... Apparently it wasn't helpful. Shell cars and vr6-t conversions were never in my info. Hope Chaos' info helps someone as well.
