ok so i am on my way home and stop at best buy. i was in there maybe a half hour and when i came back out, i tried to start my car and nothing. I had power, the radio and lights lite up but it did not even attempt to turn over. so i called and had my mom bring my my vag-com thinking it would throw a code....NOTHING! im so stumped has ANYONE had this?

could it be a coil pack or would that send a code? anyone i dont want to hae to tow it to the dealer to have them look at it but i may have to.

 

starter ? need more info what exacly happen ?

 

sorry i dont really have more info, when i turned the key it didnt even make any noise, no clicking no nothing

 

if u didnt hear any nioses my guess is starter

 

jump the car first and try to start and make sure the car which, gives you jump, has a good battery

you can check your battery level at Advance Auto Parts for free

if it does not help it might be starter problem.

if you car manual then someone can push it and you can run the car without using starter. if it runs that way, then you can be more sure that problem is the starter.

 

well i know its not the battery because my radio worked and so did all my power functions... you mean i could try starting it like a dirt bike or something? put it in gear get it rolling and pop the clutch? what gear would i put it in? thanks

 

put it in 2nd gear.

even the radio works fine, it does not mean that you have good battery. starter need very high amp to turn.

looking threw the bentlely manual i see that the starter is run off the a/c compressor belt. when i did the timing belt i replaced that and may have tightened the tensioner to tight. Could that have caused the started to burn out? thanks
