Quick question I thought somebody might have some knowledge on....

On occasion when I turn my car on the orange light with ! turns on, from my understanding this is the light letting you know that the ESP is turned off.....It's weird because it will turn on with the car, and then eventually (usually within 5mins) will turn back off....However, sometimes it just stays on and I can't get it to turn off.....any ideas? And I never turn the ESP off manually

i dont have it in my car but i think it comes on when u loose traction telling you that ur slipping but thats a shot n the dark. also what does it do when you push your esp button?

 

Well, I don't think it's that I'm losing traction, because it stays on when idleing.....Also, it stays on for the first 5-10mins and then usually turn off, however a few times it has stayed on until I shut it off and come back later to drive it and then it won't be on. I've tried to hit the ESP button to see if it will turn it off, but that does nothing

Either your switch has gone bad or your car is trying to tell you theres a problem with the esp system. Check the faults in your abs control module.

 

Sorry to be a noob.......but I don't know how to check the faults in the abs control module

 

You need a scan tool.

You might try a stand alone code reader.
