Default exhaust

I searched but the search button would return no results so i have a Q. I know everyone says go with a chip first since you will see the most HP gains. I was thinking if you goto upgrade the exhaust first you will need to update the chip, if i just got an exhaust w/o any chip or anything would the engine run lean/rich before i went wit ha chip?

no, dont worry, go ahead and get the exhaust everything will be fine. THOUSANDS of people have put on exhaust and not even touched the car's computer. Ive been running my exhaust for 3 months no problems, and on my mustang i had aftermarket exhaust for almost 3 years no problems....you will be 100% fine w/out a chip

Hey, well i never got into car modding or anything. I have currently a GS500 motorcycle and if you change exhaust/air filter you need to rejet. Otherwise you will run like crap. But thanks for the info.

Yeah, by all means do the exhaust before the chip, but most people spend around 500 dollars for a chip and gain 40-50hp and around 60-65tq.....

chip was less than my exhaust. stock exhaust was fine w/the chip for a couple months til i put the new one on. the computer figures everything out and adjusts itself. and since the they run close to the same, if you do the exhaust first, you fall into the:

allshow+nogo=lame

category.
just my $.02

i would agree that if u buy the exhaust alone u r paying close to a grand depending what u go with for about 10 hp give or take?

get a 1+ flash with injectors for $800 if u can install the injectors yourself and get a test pipe for $100 and a forge DV $125 and u are set till summer, then get a FMIC/DSMIC then exhaust last...

i really wished i had dyno'ed my car before and after to see what kind of gains the NS exhaust and Test pipe actually gives, im sure its not much.. but EUROCODE claims up to 48 ft lbs torque increase and up to 19 hp with their TP

im just not seeing how i could have gained that much? i think it spools quicker and i know it cools down quicker because i did some vag com logs of EGTs but it sure as hell didnt feel like 20hp/40ftlbs increase
