i took my 02 a4 to a local exhaust shop to get an estimate for a new system....i told him that im looking for a low and deep sound...he said that he would change the stock muffler with a magnaflow and then cut the two muffler resinators and do staright piping from the muffler with 2 magnaflow tips...his estimate $500.thats 2 hrs labor at $90 rate so thats $180,plus parts...is this a good deal or just get a bolt on cat back system...which usually go for around $1,000.00??

 

I don't know if that would help your performance at all.. get a full cat-back down pipe system[&:]

 

I'd suggest an engineered system like apr or milltek if cost isn't really an option, but a custom system will be cheaper. Get a good resonator, as they do alot for the resulting sound. Remember, most custom places will be using alumiumized pipe, not stainless, so don't expect the same durability.

 

You have to remember that if you go like Milltek and Borla, those systems will increase your performance AND last you pretty much forever. Custom jobs wont.

 

just the let you know, its not gonna sound good as the bult-on ones like from awetuning and others.
