I have a 99 A4 2.8. My biggest complaint is the lack of exhaust tone. All the exhaust systems for my car are very expensive when all I want is it to be a little louder. Wondering what you guys think of a cheap system like the following on eBay? Has anyone used something like this on their B5?

why dont you just buy a universal borla/magnaflow/remus etc etc muffler, and go to an exhaust shop and get them to weld some pipes up

there is a place around my house that will do a full 2.5" exhaust for like $250

 

that's an idea... can anyone recommend a borla, remus, etc. universal installed onyour vehicle, pros/cons and fitment.

 

it depends on how much you want to spend, what sound you want. You tube is your friend, look up some videos and se which one you like best.

I will tell you this though
magnaflow: ~150
Remus ~600 or something like that just for the muffler
borla - not quite sure but probably comparable to Magnaflow

also if you look in the newbie A4 guide on the main A4 page you'll find some more info/ sound clips of different exhaust notes.

 

the Magnaflow 14815 and 14816 with your resonator still installed will give you a nice deeper tone for sure. You can get these for about $150 on ebay.

 

they don't make borla mufflers for the 2.8. Remus is real good but pricey. For the price a magnaflow muffler is great.

 

how do they not make a borla muffler for the 2.8? all you do is just match the size of the piping diameter and make sure there are no clearance issues. and a custom job would be better/cheaper than anything from ebay
