F*CK.
ya clutches are expensive cuase they have to remove your quattro system and two front drivelines. best peice of advice from anyone out there without flaming you is get yourself into driving school, best is your local club "drivers ed"/track classes.... they'll teach you more about driving than you even thought there was to know about it; from the sounds of it you're pretty ignorant. (not in a negative way just in a factual way, sorry kid, it takes experience and teaching to really know how to drive a car well :-) Wish ya good luck!!!! the forums are a great way to get good, real advice!!!!
8 Lessons of driving school is required to get a license... took em all in auto though. I actually drive very well, as far as stick goes, I do everything everyone has said, I put it in netural and let off the clutch at every light, dont rest my foot on the clutch etc... My only fault is not babying the clutch enough (But how many people really do that).... Theres gotta be people here who pop the clutch for 2nd 3rd 4th 5th gear majority of the time and are fine. Other than that, the only way it coulda been me was from redlining out of a neutral to show off *Which I learned here is a bigger mistake that I ever thought*
And to be honest, my dad taught me stick and hes a car buff, hes had everything from porsches to ferrarris (sp?) to BMW's etc.... Not to mention hes been driving insane cars since he was 15, Corvettes, Shelbys.... He knows every trick in the book and told me **** I shouldnt be doing, of course I still launched it out of neutral really at high RPM's out of my own ignorance I suppose =\ Im pretty sure it was a fucked up clutch when I got it but I wouldnt doubt I killed it, I can recall at least 3-5 times where I'd hold the clutch right up before the "Clutch point" ******* redline it.... I knew that was BAD but I didnt know it was THAT BAD... But its my first car, give me a break =|
