Falken FK452 or Kumho Ecsta SPT
The dealer put on a new set of Kumho Ecsta's when I got my A4 back 06'. They were pretty good... didn't have anything bad to say about them performance-wise. The only downside, is they have a tendency to wear pretty quickly. After only 20k miles, I ended up replacing them with Bridgestone Potenza RE960's. So far the RE960's have held up very well.
The couple sets of kumhos i had were/are my fav tires (I have a set right now(for the last 7k))...there is absolutely no road noise and handle amazingly...on top of that I have yet to get a flat (*knock on wood*)...and i have hit some humungus pot holes
my second fav tire company isbridgestone (which handle stupendously)...rocked em on a 240 and they were out of this world sticky
the tires i hate the most are toyos...they didn't handle worth a damn and I blame them for the destruction of my miata....
good luck on the tire shopping!
kumho's FTMFW! imo

What is the normal tread life on these more performance oriented tires. I'm getting somewhere between 20k and 30k on my FK 451s. I never have the car on the track but am a spirited/aggressive driver.....these A4s are too much fun in windy roads, of course my C6 sticks much better in the corners, less body roll.

There are a few ecsta's, car to be more specific? Also, did you rotate the tires like you suppose to?

I also had some Kumho's (a long time ago otherwise I would give a better description), anyways, they were great tires. Like everyone else I didn't own them long enough to figure out tread wear but great grip, except in the snow of course.
