Default Faulty speedometer

Just wondering if anyone can help with a problem i've had for a while with the speedo. I've had fitted a second-hand unit fitted and a transducer but still no joy. Any help would be great, thanks!

Welcome to the forums.

Need more specifics on your car. You might want to get it scanned for any codes. Autozone does free code checking. Post the results here and we can nail down the problem.

Sorry about that. The car is an N-reg 2.6 Quattro with 120.000 miles on the clock. The transducer and speedo i've had fitted by auto-electricians and then they sort of give up! I just could do with some ideas because my DIY skill's are pretty basic so i will probably have to go somewhere else. And what's Autozone? Cheers!

Autozone, it's a auto parts store in America. You don't have them. I'm not even sure what you are trying to do? So What have you replaced? The instrument cluster? The speed sensor? Still no speedo function?

The only problem i have is the speedo is not working along with the tripometer, and total miles meter ( the last two have figures displayed but they do not alter). A second-hand instrument cluster has been installed with no success with a brand new transducer, which worked for a short time but then stopped again. Rev-counter working, and everything is lit up.
