Default A few questions from someone seriously looking into an Avant

Whatsup everyone. I have been lurking for a bit, and I finally registered today (actually, just to enable the search feature, then I decided to post also).

I am switching from a 2002 BMW 325Ci Manual that I modded a lot to - hopefully - an '05 Audi Avant that I will be tamer with.

I have a choice between an 05 1.8T and 2.0T (both manual).

I will probably do a lease/premier purchase.

I was wondering if there are any big huge reasons why I should look more towards one than the other. To be honest, I like the 1.8T body a bit better, but the 2.0T has Nav. Other than that, the packages are basically the same (sport, premium, lighting, etc..)

I was also wondering how much I should work to haggle the price/payment options. I figure a few thousand off of MSRP? Is there an average amount that most Audi customers are getting off?

Finally, I really like some of the wheels that Audi has as an option. Do you guys think I could get a dealership to switch out the stock wheels/tires before I signed onto a lease and/or premier purchase plan? (is the premier purchase even worthwhile?)

Thanks for all the help. I have searched and such, but I haven't really come up with solid answers.

Hey quadro, welcome to the forum.

Have you driven the 1.8t and the 2.0t? The new 2.0t has more power and delivers it smoother in my opinion. If you plan on doing any tuning, then the 2.0t is showing great promise!

As far as pricing, go to cars.com and figure out what the dealer invoice is. From there you should be able to haggle with the dealer. Expect at least a 1000 off msrp.

cl's right, everyone wants the hot new ****, so now would be a good time to pick up a b6...but the b7s look much better imo.

The B7 is the shizzle, man. But I also love the look of the B6 avant.
You will get a better deal on the B6 for sure.

imo, a super-slammed b5 avant is the sexiest audi made....except maybe these new b7s, they keep looking better and better every time i see them.

Hey everyone.

Thanks for the quick replies!

I have spoken with my dealer, and they have a 2004 Dolphin Gray A4 1.8T Avant that they are selling for, basically 31k (brand new).

It has the audi "ultra sport", which is I guess wheels, steering wheel, shift ****, and roof spoiler, as well as xenon...

What do you guys think? This is significantly less money than the 2.0T Avant that I was looking at, but it had Nav (and obviously a bigger engine, etc..)

Hmm.. decisions.

well, there's lots of tuning choices for the 1.8t.
The Nav feature is overrated. I have it in my carputer and use it only rarely.

How much is the 2.0? Must be around $37K or so?

The 2.0 is fully-loaded, and they are asking 38k, but I'm sure I could talk it down a bit.

If you say the Nav isn't that important, than I may have to go with the 1.8T.

and I mis-typed.. it's a 2005 1.8T, vice a 2004.
