Default First Car!!!!

Hey Guys,
I am 16 years old, and im looking for my first car I'm excited!!! I looked at rice, and i decided that i wanted to go with euro power. I was wondering how much i should expect to pay for 97 A4 with about 100,000 miles on it. I want a reliable car, but i want performance also, if anyone is looking to sell an A4 in Connecicut please PM me and let me know what you have. Also any other suggestions for audi's? Are there any other models that ya'll think would be good as a first car? Thanks a bunch guys!
Z.

My thoughts on this matter.

You are 16, and most likey dont have the best paying job. You may not have the spare money for repairs. You need a more relaible car.

Out of the 1.8T and the 2.8L Audi A4's the 2.8L is much more relaible. But , things go out on both.

Control arms, tie rod ends, wheel bearings... those things are not engine related.

I have not had that bad of luck w/ my car . 1999 Audi A4 1.8T now w/ 98K miles... im replacing a wheel bearing today.. but thats only costing me a total of $50 and some time.

yeah being 16 I dont think an audi is the way to go. I make a decent living and more then make ends meet , but lets say my audi has an issue like a tranny rebuild or engine throws a t belt and needs a new long block. Then I will most likely be sunk or close to it. But I have a good warranty that covers most of it. If you can get a warranty then do it, make sure its reputable and I think youll be fine. But thoughts still linger on maintenance, premium fuel[:@], and the what if factor.

IMHO get something cheaper, and more reliable that takes the cheaper regular gas like a toyota. No worries there. Now if Mommy and Daddy are paying for the car and maintenance then by all means get the audi.

Toyotas are the most reliable car bar none.

Get something reliable w/ good gas mileage.

Everybody wants to impress their friends with their sweet euro car... but you cant impress anybody for a car you cant pay for!

If you can drive a stick, get one.. they will save you money

1) THey are Cheaper
2) Better gas mileage
3) In my experince MT hold more power, and are more reliable than AT

theres nothing cheap about japenesse cars. granted the interior feels cheap in comparison to an audi but still not cheap. I would think a jetta may be slightly cheaper to maintain, yet VW dealers are close in price to the average audi dealer. Im just thiking of 6k dropping all of it on an audi and having a car that will need somthing big really soon.

I hope you didnt think I was insulting you with the mom and dad comment. I too was like you and worked my a$$ off to save up for cars. I understand where you are coming from and having been in that situation about 7 years ago Id say try somthing cheaper. But if your set on an audi, then all I have to say is you wont be dissapointed.[8D]

you can find 97 1.8tqm for $6k but as others say mainteince is expensive

there is another case also;
This is a nice german car so it is not a japanese car.

I dont know what you have in your mind but we do not want to see a
huge wing on the trunk, 5" muffler farting at the back, cutting spring slammed on ground and jumping like crazy....

So if you'll mod it right, yeah go ahead and buy an audi, otherwise go and buy civic.
