Flooded transmisison computer !!
I got a B5 audi auto transmission 1.8T Quattro...and I left the front passenger window half openned in the heavy rain, and it ends with a flooded car= =... When I started to drive, the engine error light went on, and the transmission lights are all on (the place which tells you which gear are you in
"12345"). And I found that it has no shift at all! Then I found out that the "transmission computer" (which is under the front passenger seat..) is flooded with water! I phoned the audi and it costs 1600 CND !...Anyone got a betteridea other then replacing it ?

I live on a hill and I have a jetta that I have parked facing downhill for years, and last year, I had left a rear window open and the water puddled on the front floor mats and the water evaporated upwards into the underside of my dash...my entire system seemed to be screwed....my windshield wipers were permanantly on, and my hazards...I ended up pulling a bunch of fuses and driving it as is, months later, just out of curiosity I plugged the fuses back in and the car is once again fully functional....before you go out and buy anything leave the system to sit and dry out...if possible, remove the "transmission computer"....let it sit and dry out....
god, when it comes to cars I have always hated water...driving on it, and when it is occasionally spilled in my car, at least you have quattro to fight back with!
good luck!

Had the same problem last year but it was due to some leaks in the engine compartment. Took it straight to the dealer and they were able to dry it out together with the interior. It took a few days, but after it went back to normal.
If it has not been soaked for too long, try this before replacing it, it just might work..........
