Front brake overhaul
My pads are completely worn up front, and one is starting to grind on the rotor, so I'm replacing the rotors and pads, as well as replacing my cracked fluid reservoir and doing a brake fluid flush.
What all will I need?
What I have in my cart so far:
Brembo blanks (right and left)
mintex redbox pads
fluid reservoir
1.5l of Motul DOT4 race fluid
maybe:
Motive power bleeder (do I need to get this, or is it something I can just rent from a local napa or auto zone?)
-all from purems
I have the Bentley to walk me through the technical parts, but do you guys have any tips on the replacement from experience?
I've heard something about getting oil to put on the pads or on the rotors to keep them from squeaking, what's the deal with this?
Thanks,
Kyle[8D]

i dont think you need a resivoir, or the power bleeder
if you really cant find someone else to help you bleed the breaks, im sure locl autoparts stores carry those
and yes, there is some kind of goopey white crap to put on the pad to help prevent squeeking (cant remember the actual name of it right now)

I read somewhere about having somebody pump the brakes while you put the fluid in, is this what you're talking about by having somebody help? Does that work just as well, because thats $50 saved right there.
My fluid reservoir has a 2.5" crack in the back of it, so it needs to be replaced.

yea, you put the fluid in... have someone pump the breaks a few times, then have them hold pressure on the pedal as you open the bleeder valve (start on the passenger side)
have them slowly push down till they get just above the bottom of the pedal, then close the valve.. repeate as many times as nessecary till there is only fluid that comes out, and no air
make sure you keep checking the level in the resivour, so it dosent run dry

Okay awesome, thanks man.
Does anyone else know the name of the white gooey stuff?
Edit:
Just read some articles, I guess it's just brake pad grease I can get at an auto parts store.
Edit again:
Our brakes don't need any special grease do they? I doubt it, but it IS an Audi...
