Front end shaking
Hello all,
I'm new here and I have a problem. I have an 04 1.8T and my front end is rattling like crazy. It's as if my tires are severely out of ballance. I don't believe they are. I can see the weights still on them. It started with the driver side and now both are wobbling a lot. At hiway speeds, it is pretty scary. I lifted the front wheel and spun it by hand. I heard some noise, but it didn't seem excessive. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Hoss

The tires are practically new. Good tread and no uneven wear. It's more prevelent at higher speeds. I can only imagine that it is the bearings. The transmission has already been replaced on the car because of a factory recall, but I doubt that that has anything to do with it.
just have them rebalanced...check your alignment, and i suppose you could switch the fronts to the back, but you are just avoiding fixing the problem. Half assing imho.
also check the control arms...could be a contribution.

Are there any recalls on the front end components? I heard something about control arms, but I don't know what year it was for. I'll head to firestone and have the tires rebalanced. That's at least a start. Thanks folks.
This will blow your mind. The passenger rear had a huge bubble in it. That is until it popped on the way home. Odly enough, the tire didn't go flat. The guy at Firestone said that he had never seen anything like it. Tire replaced for free. Problem solved. Thanks for tuning in.
