Default Front suspension knock

Hey guys.
I am a second owner to an A4 B5 series. My current one is a 00 1.8T Q, Santorin blue... I have a weird knock that occurs over large bumps in the front. (going over a 'sharp' speed bump or somthing like it where the suspension is displaced will make it..) Typically it is on the drivers side. I had the control arms replaced because they were loose and an alignment done. I can reproduce the sound when I quickly move the wheel back and forth. When I do that, i can acutually see the wheel on the ground kinda move in an odd way when the sound is made. Do you think it is the steering linkage or a strut problem. The sound is also on the other side too, but not as severe. Thanks for your help!
Josh

If the front wheel is not moving the same time you are moving the steering wheel, that would be a tie rod end. I've replaced at least 1 so far.

my bad, I had the tie rods replaced, not the control arms. I will have them checked again by the guys to see if they are staying tight. Thanks!
