Front Sway bar bolt
I cracked my oil pan on saturday, so I ordered a new one. I was taking off the screws last night (in 30 degree weather) and noticed that I had to take off the the sway bar, no problem right? Wrong. One of the bolts was broken, so the bolt just spun. To finish the job I pryed the bushing cuppling back and reinstalled it that way. I was wonderin if there is any way to replace the bolt or can i get it welded, What should I do??? Thanks for the feedback.
LOL. This could be my post. Exact same situation. I cut off the remaining spinning bolt and took 3 ratchet extensions and put a new bolt down the side of the engine. How much did you get your new pan for? I got mine welded but it still leaks... I guess there is a little flexible ratchet thing that would work to get behind the sway bar without taking it off. Let me know what you do.
are u talking bout the 4 bolts that hold the 2 clamps onto the frame? u can call up an audi dealership and ask for the bolt specs then go to ur local hardware store and buy a new one. idk bout the flexible ratchet thing. to me the best way is taking those 4 bolts off and just swing the sway bar outa the way. i got my oil pan welded too. u have to take it to sum1 who knoes how to weld aluminum. it's a tricky job
My indie audi guy showed me the flexible ratchet after i told him my problem. He just works around the sway bar instead of taking it off. Ebay has some oil pans for around 60 dollars which is great considering i got my pan welded for 35 and it still leaks.
Hmmm I didnt even look from the top to see if i had access to that bolt. It was dark either way. I will have to look at it this weekend. I finished the job tuesday night. I bought the pan from egermanparts.com and I payed $168 for the pan and gasket shipped next day air. I couldnt ride my bike 35 degree weather any more! Duburban what was the specs on that bolt that you bought? Thanks for the reply guys...
