This may be a stupid question but which way do the batteries go round inside the remote fob?

Are they with the writing facing upwards? i.e. positive up. Or does the writing face down? i.e. negative facing upwards.

I've just aquired a new remote and i'm trying to program it to my car, but before i did that i tested the batteries to make sure they were working with a multimeter, then i couldn't remember which way round they went! I tried one way, and the remote wouldn't program, so i'm just wondering if i have them the wrong way round! doh!
