fuel consumption down with colder weather?
colder air is denser so it requires more fuel to have the same A/F ratio.
Up in the air we have a mixture control to precisely control that. it changes with temerature and altitude.

ooohh those short drives are gonna pwn your car...particularly your exhaust. Moisture builds up on short drives and could corrode your muffle..but no biggy, just buy an aftermarket one that won't get eaten alive by salt and moisture!

And yeah, 18T is dead nuts on his theory, thats the main reason you use more fuel
I use more fuel because my car spools so much sexier in cold weather than in the 90+ of the summer..... so I drive like a raving loony during the snowless winter.... but thats just me!
