G35 Exhaust on an A4
I've been thinking about getting an exhaust for my 2000 A4 2.8Q...after reading through the dozens of posts on here about different exhausts, it seems that the consesus is that a good sound to go for is the sound of a g35 stock exhaust...I defiently have to agree...the g35's sound awesome...however, the cost of a good aftermarket exhaust can easily push 1k...so I was wondering, what would it sound like just getting an oem g35 muffler and slapping her on my ride? Has anybody done something like this?
I don't know how you're going to get it to fit, but even if you do get it to fit, it will not sound the same. You're looking at a difference of .7L in displacement (BIG difference), and then it also depends a lot on your piping diameter, lenght, and the cats and resonators. The difference in the engine alone will be enough to make it sound very different.
Just go with one of the exhaust systems that are made for the A4.

mufflers and piping have very little to do with the exhaust note of an engine. firing order, valve lift and duration, and exhaust port size are all major factors in the sound an engine makes. the 2.8 is a good sounding V6, but it'll never match the sweet note that nissan's 3.5 makes.
