GAS PRICES AND MY AUDI
I use 91 chevron, $3.51 right now in Norcal, so I spend about 100 a week on gas, its horrible but I would never risk any damage or knocking to save a few bucks...
that said, my friend uses 89 octane whatever is cheap in his b6 and he says it runs fine...but still...

It depends on how you drive. I do mostly 90% freeway driving, sometimes taking advantage of my turbo, and I can get 350-360 miles/ tank on average. If I drive like grandma, I can get up to 420 miles/tank. And yes... I pay about $50 to fill up my tank with Shell 91. Too bad they don't have 93+ octane in Cali [:@].

yeah premiums around $3.40[:@]

Dont' go cheap, always fill up with the highest octane you can get, better for gas mileage anyway. And as far as price goes, I'm in Pittsburgh and paid $3.45/gallon for premium today, so consider yourself lucky because you're paying a lot less than most of us..
dont risk it, i put 87 in my old audi and got CEls up the @$$, the current car saysi can run on 87 but i was getting somewhat less MPGs than 93 and the timeing was retarded so i got less power.
I get around 320 to a tank and it cost me around 44 dollars to fill up on 93 and it usually lasts me about 8 days. as far as my driving habits...I somtime romp on the gas a somtimes i drive like a grandma. I guess it;s better than the jeep wrangler i was driving a month ago with 31 inch tires and a 6 cylinder. That thing was like trying to drive a barn down the highway @ 70 MPH!
What is the compression ratio of the 1.8T?
It's very weird. My manual says I can use 87 octane, but on the gas door on the car there is a sticker that says don't go below 93. I've run both with no problems, but usually run 93.
