Default Gauge Cluster rings

Hey Guys,

Just recieved these chrome gauge rings for my instrument cluster off ebay. I've looked around the forum and can't find any info on how to take out the instrument cluster, or maybe just the plastic cover over them... anyone know how??? or maybe where i can go to find out???

thanks and cheers!

pull the little cover under the cluster (above your steering console cover) off by pulling it out. It has clips on it and should pop right out. The remove the two screws, and the cluster should be able to come out (from what I remember off the top of my head while in the office).

^ yup, then reach behind it and unclip all the harnesses. there's three assorted colors purple green and grey i think. dont try to just pull them out or you'll break them. unclip!

then with the torx bit unscrew the two bolts on the back.

unclip the clips on top and bottom. like ten i think. then you're in.

pop the rings in.

clean the inside or you'll be pissed when theres dust and stuff when you put it back in.

reassemble and your done.

this thread has some pics of the finished product:
http://www.audizine.com/forum/showth...ght=gauge+ring

And there is a detailed DIY in the interior section of AW: "Installing Gauge Trim Rings"
http://www.audiworld.com/tech/int.html

Let us know how it works out! I've had a set of these sitting in my garage, but never mustered up the cajones to crack open my dash. Just make sure you use the right kind of glue, one that will NOT cause your plastic cover to fog-up.

thanks jazz... i ended up trying it right away, took me a little while cuz the rings were not an exact fit, but with a little elbow grease and patience i got them in... i think they look really good, not ricey which i was worried about... wont add pics cuz it looks exactly like the ones in the link, but my set came with the middle square chrome piece, the ones in the link didnt have it... i think it looks pretty good for a 20 buck upgrade...

thanks again guys

cheers
