GEar shift problems
Audi A4 1.8 Auto (NO TURBO)
I have posted so many times now you must all be fed up with me,sorry....
My problems started when the car was surging in 4th gear (only 4th) almost like the torque clutch converter wasnt engaging in 4th properly, I had this problem all through summer..
Now it's cold outside the car doesnt change gear till about 4000rpm and then I have to release the gas before it shifts with a thunk!!
It also seems like when I release the gas in neutral it takes longer than normal for the revs to drop down to idle!
After driving 21 miles I assume the car should be warm and that it should shift normal, its now inside defrosting.
Sometimes if I am driving at about 80kmh (50mph) and I move the shift into neutral it wont automatically let me shift back to drive without putting my foot on the brake pedal. This wasnt a problem with the summer gear change issue....
Had the thing into Audi last week for a diagnostics test and it came back with the following which Audi says arent the problem
16486 Mass Air Flow Sensor Signal too weak Sporadic
17978 Supply Voltage b+ Sporadic
and a code 00532 which no-one seems to know much about.
What the føck can it be???

Yea... never heard of this problem, but doesnt sound like your Audi steelership isnt too wise... try another dealership and see whats up with that. Sorry can't offer any help... its just 4 in the morning and I;m bored so thought I'd just comment.
1) check air filter element, clean slush screen
2) clean throttle body, particularly if drive-by-wire
3) clean MAF sensor, replace if still flakey
4) check for vacuum leaks; the OEM vacuum lines are cr@p

Stuck the car into a different Audi garage and they have found that an engine speed sensor is fĂĽcked, so they are waiting to change it, when it arrives!
Hopefully this will solve all my problems
