Getting an A4
I currently have a 3000gt with around 400hp but it's time to sell it and get something a little more practical. I've done some research and see that b5 A4's have a lot of potential for moddin, which I like alotg. If money wasn't an issue then I'd go with an S4 but I only have about 15k to invest in an automobile right now.
With my budget how fast can I make an A4? I'm a speed demon so I definitely need the performance to go along with the lux and class that Audi's have.

If you get an aA4, A 1.8T QUATTRO MANUAL is a mUST. the 2.8 has little modding available. If you get a pree-drive by wire (99 and lower i think). the stock engine can take aornud 350-400 wheel horsepower without having to be rebuilt. the DBW one can take abotu 300 (ive heard with 350). they are pretty slow stock, but they can become crazy fast. and they handle amazingly with the quattro. you can proble get a 99 or 00 for 10-11k. then that leaves you 4-5k for work. with 5k you can get an entire kit from APR that has a chip, headers, turbo...ect. that gives you 350 crank HP.
or you can go with ATP and for 1.5k get 300 whp. plus a chip and etc.

i bought my 01 1.8 with 50k on her about a year ago for 13k out the door from an Audi dealer. fully loaded. i have since only had one problem with it and that was the turn signal relay. i fixed it myself by buying the part for 50 bucks. the car is incredibly reliable in my experience. and if you could find a similar deal as me you would have 2k to make it a very nice/quick car.
My car is an AWD, manual, turbo so I understand the need to get those options for performance. An S4 would suit my needs better but I don't buy things I can't pay for. Not to mention my driving records isn't the best and insurance, speeding tickets, and court fees are all becoming a b**** to pay for.

well, a k04 does work nice...but the only problem with it is that you would never get the power out of it that u got out of ur 3000. a g28rs would give you ncie power tho. and the power doesnt really come on all that much later. the only band difference really would be just the turbo lag if you were cruising and then punched it.
if ur goin after the S4 with the 2.7TT and want serious power thats gonna compare to the GTO and u have the money
