Ran the codes before I put the new plugs in, and in addition to the misfire codes I also got a P1111. O2 Control (Bank 1) System Too Lean.
Just for kicks I measured the gaps on the factory NGK plugs after the new ones were in. Not even CLOSE to the recommended .032 gap! More like .024. New copper plugs are in, so we'll see what happens tomorrow morning when we fire it up. Thats when it runs like hell and I get a CEL.
If I get another CEL tomorrow I'm going to start looking for a vacuum leak. New TT225 injectors coming soon!

its none of that, its your ECM (engine control module). Its on your intake. If you are still having problems check your Injectors, MAF, and O2 sensors. Is the car going into limp or will it start at all?
Oh it starts. I don't know about limp mode, but after a few blips on the throttle it settles down and the flashing CEL goes away. Its only in the morning on a cold start. Here is the order in which I started experiencing trouble:
1) Knock sensor error
2) Misfires in all 4 cyl
3) running lean
All of this started after I replaced the factory DV with a new Forge 007. So right now I've got new plugs in and have just recently changed the oil. All of these errors appear to be fuel related, so I was thinking I'd replace the FPR and see what happens. Can I put in a 3.0 bar before the new injectors?
If its the MAF sensor, is that an easy repair?
I have new TT225 injectors on their way, so we'll see what happens once those are in.

I actually have a very similar problem. I throw CEL's for the following:
misfire on all 4 cylinders
antiknock sensor all 4 cylinders
and of course my favourite, p0171 bank 1 fuel air too lean.
So far I've fixed the following,
cleaned MAF
replaced all vacuum lines
If I were you, I'd try to clean the MAF first and replace vacuum lines second. These are cheap and easy to do. Then I'd test all my O2 sensors (per advice from tons of forum members).
Good luck buddy!

OK...I figured out what the problem is/has been. One of the check valves (I think) is totally sheared. I noticed some kind of deposit on the firewall and started cleaning all of the hoses and fittings that were in that area. A check valve totally sheared when I wiped it clean! Here's a photo of the errant part. I will pick up a replacement in the AM and hope to hell that's all the problem was.
This brings up an interesting question. If driven like this (with a pretty nasty vacuum leak) will it damage the engine or any of its components? I plan on replacing the valve ASAP but I still want to know if driving with a vacuum leak will cause any long term problems.
Cheers,

well if that doesnt fix it......have you looked at your ignition coils yet? I have the 1.8 T same year....but not sure if that is different in an A4 then an A3. Coils in mine are notorious for going, and it exhibited some of the same problems
