No he told that if i were the original purchaser it would be $150 to upgrade/update but since im not then it will cost $495 but all upgrades after that would be $150. That's like being double taxed or better yet receiving a present then having to pay for it.

This car could of been chipped for years so i figured i would get the updated version that may have a different values like timing curve fuel delivery etc........ Plus i have been thinking about getting either a different file or GT setup. Since i've been chipped this whole time and dont have that extra power to look forward to.

When they say "update" their software, they are most likely talking about CHANGING the programming, i.e. going from 91 octane to 93 octane, or to the K04 set up. There is no good reason I have come across to get a reflash of the same software if it is currently running correctly. So really the only reason you should pay them money is if you are upgrading your software, and if you want to pay them to check your car for their software. BUT just open your ecu and you can find out real quick for free.

I like the idea of just going BT and custom software. GIAC has been nothin but ****** as far my experiences go with them. If there is a sticker with their name on it will it tell me what files are on it? (91, 93, theft...)

I have the day off tomorrow so im going to open up the ECU and see what i find, then i will trace the VIN to see what shop could have flashed my car cause GIAC dont want to help me without getting paid.

And while im at it im going to put on my new toys i got from the UPS man. (Forge 007 and MBC compliments of JohnyBravo)

Part of the problem is you are talking to shops that sell the GIAC product. They aren't as happy to help you as GIAC directly might be. The most commong GIAC flash/chip is the 91 octane, but I know mine doesn't say inside it what the program is, so I am taking the word of the person I bought it from. I suppose the only way would be to have it scanned.

Well after some research (though not complete) it looks like i have MTM software and exhaust which the only dealer is in Florida so unless there is a sticker on the ecu (which i have'nt checked cause its freezing) im SOL.

If im correct i have the 3rd package down on this page http://www.hoppenmotorsport.com/A4_B5.htm
I do have the Bosch dv, K&N panel filter and resonated MTM exhaust some time this weekend ill find out if i have the plugs.

Anybody have MTM programing on their cars?
