jeff's right, if ur going for major power out of a big turbo, standalone is the way to go. that way you can change parts or add new ones without worrying about chip compatibility.

 

Yea but how many people have the know how to use a standalone unit. Not only that but if (like me) your A4 is your only vehicle standalone can a risky route considering the realiability issues you might face. IMO if this is your daily driver and you want to keep your K03 get an APR or GIAC chip, if you want a little more get a K04 and use GIACs software and buy the supporting bolt on mods, if you really want power but must have a reliable vehicle the only option I see is APR's SIII or SIII+. Yes there expensive but they kind of have a monopoly being the only manufacturer or reliable BT software.

 

the only exception in my mind is the apr 3 and 3+, yes they do an excellent job of programming to fit those kits. reliability is all in what stand alone you have and who tunes it. if they do good job, it can actually be more reliable than a reg chip especially if you have mismtched or pieced together mods.

 

Welp i was going to get APR this week. Changed my mind about that real quick cause i already have a k04 that might just be coming soon.

and the fact that it doesn't support KO4 is a big plus in my case - as it was one of the few things that prevented me from upgrading to one (I've already spent too much money on my car and am saving for a new one).

 

well i did decide on the giac but after reading all this $hit, im thinking of apr.....once again. the reason is because im pretty damn sure i will be keeping the ko3 because ko4 will void my warranty and my warranty is good up until about 100,000 and i will probably have a new car soon. but after seeing apr give more power and tq im wanting that one. i abosoluetely hate not being able to choose. and i know those whom i talked to yesterday are going to be pissed cuz i said giac. i just dont know. i wish i could test them both. im seriously pissed off.

 

Stop with the "I dont know's" and just pick one, for real. You have so much info on each chip, and I know its a hard decision, but DAMN! You act like this is some kind of life altering decision you have to make. They are both good and fun so quit your pondering and just make up your mind... People have already made up their minds for you on what you should get because you cant, and you still dont know... Do you need me to come swipe the credit card for you at a giac dealer??? Im available on Saturdays.
