Default GIAC Chip Results 2.8

Installed GIAC engine and trany chips.
The power gain is not dramatic but improved torque at low end. Fuel consumption in town is up a small amount but at 79 mph on the freeway I'm showing a solid 2 mpg improvement, this probably due to more advance from the ECU.
Trans shifting is greatly improved. Much quicker and power is more tractable.
All that said, after one drive to work, it remains to be seen wheather the gains justify the cost. There may be other potential gains that aren't realised until other bottlenecks are addressed. I'll have to look into it.

Very good results. I still have a small delay coming out of a slow 90 degree turn but I don't think its the trany. Might be throttle calibration or slack. I'll let you know what I find. Probably next weekend.

Well that depends on how tight you are with your wallet and how **** you are with your car. From wath I understand gains on the 2.8 are incramental and more dollars per HP/Torque than the 1.8T.
Its all about passing more air/fuel mixture through the engine. So any HP gain will come with a price in fuel consumption, aggrevated by HP=Fun=more foot.
Yeh. I would do it again, I'm ****.

P.S. Need a couple of days driving to give good data.

How much did the engine chip cost? I'd be interested in the better gas mileage.

Good to hear about the chip. It's better than stock! Let us know how it all feels after a couple of weeks!

Black B5....like the SIG!

Cost of engine chip was $300 and trany $250. My freeway milage is REALLY good. City dropped marginally. I drive over 70 miles a day on the freeway and 8 miles in town. This upgrade has panned out for me very well, though I didn't expect the milage deal.
The power gain is very modest, but that is as advertised. I wonder about gains from exsaust, cold air, electric fan etc.
